Peacock blue is such a lovely vibrant color it is no surprise that brides love to include it in their wedding color schemes. Peacock blue works well teamed with neutrals and as an accent color with other blues or greens, but why not explore the possibility of using peacocks themselves as the basis for a themed wedding, and really get value from the color.

When choosing a wedding color scheme choosing three colors will give you the variety to create sufficient interest and depth in your design. The first will be a color used in large quantities, so a neutral or soft color works for things like stationary, linen and the bride's dress. Peacock feathers have a beautiful mix of colors. Look at a peacock feather for inspiration and consider using copper as your neutral, or a soft brown. The main and accent colors will shine against the backdrop of this neutral. Brilliant green, peacock blue, sparkling gold and black are all choices that come directly from the peacock's showy feathers. Use the second color for bridesmaid's dresses, feature linen and flowers, and then add accents in the third color. These could be with ribbons, jewelry, table napkins or the packaging for your wedding favors.

With a peacock themed wedding there are many ways to use images of peacocks or peacock feathers. They can feature in your wedding stationary design and you could source miniature peacocks to add to your wedding reception table decorations. Real peacock feathers are readily available and can be added to bouquets, hair accessories, wedding table centrepieces or even tucked into each guest's napkin. A single peacock feather is a stunning option for a boutonniere - the perfect way to have your groom's party part of the theme. A talented wedding cake designer will be able to create a beautiful cake incorporating your peacock theme and your flower designer will also have more ideas for adding to the theme.

The peacock is an exotic bird and suggests exotic places. When planning your wedding reception decorating, look at other ideas from India or Asia that will add to the mood. Paper fans, umbrellas or lanterns in your wedding colors are all inexpensive items that can add to an oriental mood.

Before you commit to your peacock theme wedding, be aware of who your guests are. In some countries and cultures peacock feathers are considered to be bad luck, and you won't want to offend or worry any of your guests - after all, the aim of your wedding day is that everyone is able to enjoy the celebrations with you.
